Tropical Marine Centre supplies a comprehensive range of low cost mechanical bag filters which offer low cost and highly versatile mechanical filtration for freshwater and saltwater systems.
Bags are ideal for use as pre-filters to main filtration systems and are easily added to existing systems to increase mechanical filtration capacity.
Bags can be washed repeatedly for long service life, but we recommend that they are replaced regularly depending on application.
Felt media (polyester or polypropylene) bags provide depth filtration and have a high solid collection capacity. All felt filter bags are singed (this is where the fibre hairs are melted by the application of high heat) on one side to eliminate fibre migration.
The PosiGuard flanged bags employ a top lid for added convenience and positive sealing and have built-in handles for ease of removal, making bag changes easier and cleaner.
The Posiguard flange design locates the bag into the filter face and locks it in place for positive sealing.
Maintenance Tip
Filter bags require regular cleaning to operate effectively - the amount of maintenance required will vary from system to system depending on various factors such as feeding regimes. Failure to maintain the bags will result in them becoming clogged and water overspilling the bags, along with the associated solids.
The best results are achieved by turning them inside out and pressure washing, however spraying with a hose will suffice. It is recommended that bags are replaced on a regular basis as, over time, there will be a build up of deposits in the filter material which will result in ineffective filtration and increased cleaning requirements.
