The Nutrafin Nitrate Test Kit can be used for freshwater & Marine fish. At swelluk we recommend that you test your nitrate levels frequently as high Nitrate levels can be toxic to your fish and can cause death in the aquarium. It is recommended that you test for nitrate more regularly in new aquariums, tap water that may contain Nitrate, aquariums containing larger species, heavily stocked aquariums and planted aquariums.
Nitrate levels can occur quite rapidly when aquariums are overly stocked, large water changes with tap water that is rich in Nitrates and when large organic accumulations are left untended.
